MY TURN! [Oct. 9th, 2008|06:23 pm]
If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now (even if we don't speak often or ever) please post a comment with a completely made up, fictional memory of you and me.

It can be anything you want - good or bad - but it has to be fake.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph in your LJ and see what your friends come up with.

Calling all Panther Fans! [Aug. 12th, 2008|04:01 pm]
Okay guys, I need help!

Friday Night Lights. What grades are the characters in when the first season begins? Doing as much googling as I had patience for, this is kind of what I came up with. But I'm probably wrong on more than one of these << I'm looking for season 1 grade level, not where they're at now.

Matt Saracen (Sophomore)
Julie Taylor (Freshman)
Landry Clarke (Sophomore)
Tyra Collette (Junior)
Lyla Garrity (Junior)
Brian Williams (Junior)
Tim Riggins (Junior)
Jason Street (Senior)
Ray Tatum (Starts at another school/transfers to another school, rivalry with Saracen, but wants to work with Smash.)

Okay. So, this is going to be quite random and it might not actually go anywhere. But if you can, please comment with fandoms that you like that either take place in high school, started in high school, or ended right before the characters would have been in high school. AKA, fandoms where you could canonically set it in a high school setting. HP is excluded from this.

My examples:
The O.C.
Hidden Palms
Gilmore Girls
Gossip Girl
Veronica Mars
Twilight
Lizzie McGuire (example of one that ended right before they would be entering high school)
Degrassi
Instant Star
South from Nowhere
Friday Night Lights
Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Radio Free Roscoe

Ahem. So any not on that list that fall into that age rage? This is merely for curiosity sake at this point >> Books, movies, tv series, etc. Something that you've ever thought "it'd be fun to play such and such character"

Favor! [Jul. 28th, 2008|12:53 pm]
If you get the chance please go here and click on the "Create Your Own Horror Movie - VOTE NOW" at the top left of the page. Vote for "Judgment Alley". (I suppose if you really like the other one better, you have to vote the way you feel you should!). I know the writer of that screen play, and if his is chosen they will actually make it into a movie! So please help Jason out if for no other reason than I think it would be freaking AWESOME to icon a movie that was written by someone I know ;D.

You can vote once every 5 minutes if you feel inclined to vote more than once!

If there is anyone who would do me a big favor by capping "Bringing Rain" I would adore you to pieces. I'd love to icon nearly the entire cast, so finding caps of that movie is very tantalizing. I just have yet to find any.

Also? Has anyone seen it? It didn't have a very high rating at Netflix, so it might suck. But the cast is begging to be PBed :D

calcifer is being put to sleep tonight. Kiddo isn't handling this well and its breaking my heart. Skye brought the vet to tears too ugh this is hard

Edit
Now that I'm home and not typing from a phone: So when they did the x-ray on the kitten, they found out that his heart was defective. It hadn't shown any problems before but basically he grew too big for his heart - his heart didn't grow with him. So as of today, when he became to big for it, his heart could no longer pump enough blood through his body. If we hadn't gone to the vet he would have died here at home sometime through out the night, as it is.

Skye got a chance to say goodbye this way, though, because she was there with us. He didn't suffer, and she didn't wake up to find a dead kitty in her bed. This was better, but not easy.

Skye wants to write a book "Calci goes to Heaven" about this experience, and have pictures that look just like Calcifer, and get it published so any other kid that has to put a pet to sleep can have something to help them through. Bless her heart.

It was so unexpected and out of nowhere. This morning Calcifer was completely fine, himself, playful, cuddly. He was born with the defective heart, and had he been to a vet before we would have known he was going to die from it, but he hadn't ever gone to the vet yet. So it was good that he hadn't. Skye got to play with him as a happy, normal kitty for his entire life. This might have been unexpected, but if we had known it would have only made it harder.

What breaks my heart is, in the examining room, when Skye was going to say goodbye, she was balling her eyes out. And the poor kitty, who hadn't made any effort to move in the last hour, tried to crawl to her without getting up, just to comfort her. He was dying, and he was comforting her because she was crying. It was heartbreaking. And it brought the vet to tears (again) as well as myself and the other workers there. It took a long time for them to be able to do the euthenasia because everyone was crying too much. No matter how much he was suffering - and you could tell it was a lot - he still worried about her, and wanted to make HER better.

My heart hurts for her. They were so good together.

ITS PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME! ... the PB meme [May. 3rd, 2008|09:35 pm]
PB you use most: Hm. I don't like recycling PBs unless its for the same character. So it would have to be for a character I've played more than once... So I'm going to have to say Hugh Dancy for out of school Remus Lupin, or Emile Hirsch for in school Remus Lupin.

PB you ruined for others: Jamie says I ruined Hugh Dancy for her. Uhm. I don't really know though. My guess is Vanessa Lengies as Calli Kettleburn might be a strong association for many too.

PB someone else ruined for you (in a good way): Taylor Swift = Lisa, Charlie Hunman = Seamus, Alyssa Milano = Dorcas Meadows, Trent Ford = Sirius Black, Lou Taylor Pucci = Regulus Black, Adam Brody = Regulus Black, Rose McGowan = Amelia Bones, Taylor Hanson = Edgar Bones, JRM = Sirius Black, Ed Westwick = Evan Rosier... I could go on and on.

PB someone else ruined for you (in a bad way): Someone seriously ruined Jensen Ackles for me. In a big way. It was my first time accepted into a game as Sirius - Jamie will remember this game - and I swear to god. The character that was played by Jensen Ackles - and his little group of friends - they were all gary/mary s(t)ues. AND on top of that, the players godmodded/metagamed frequently... and it was HORRIBLE. Seriously. The fact that there were characters that said "Sirius Black makes me wish I could quit the Order" - in a situation where said characters GOD MODDED MY CHARACTER AND "HAD HIM AWARE" of things HE (AND I) WASN'T AWARE OF... and even if he had? More than one character had fallen victim to rumors, one of those characters had a slew of characters sticking up for them, the OTHER CHARACTER HAD NONE, so SIRIUS STUCK UP FOR HER (also, let it be known he wanted in this second character's knickers!)... But that meant he "wasn't" a friend to the first character and was such scum that half the order wanted to quit. BLERG. See? RUINED. Sirius had most issues with the Jensen Ackles character so I tend to have rage issues now whenever I see Jensen. I was so intimidated to ever play Sirius again, and I thank Jamie SO SO SO MUCH for convincing me to pick him up at MW because I'd probably still have Sirius related issues and RP issues if I hadn't.

List 5 PBs that are now permanently associated with a character: (These are all PBs I've used for characters previously, and now because of the very strong association I'll never be able to use the PB for any character BUT these characters.)
1. Vanessa Lengies = Callista Kettleburn
2. Zoe Saldana = Angelina Johnson
3. Taylor Kitsch = Sirius Black
4. Autumn Reeser = Tracey (Davis) Stebbins.
5. cody Linley = Otto Bagman.

List at least 5 PBs you hate seeing and why?:
1. Games where there are a slew of PBs from the same show. This is common among OC PBs, One Tree Hill PBs, or Gossip Girl PBs. Let's have some variety people!
2. MODELS. Common I like expressions, thnx.
3. Angelina Jolie.
4. Sophia Bush & Chad Michael Murray - they always end up as a *forced* ship if there are two characters in the game with these PBs.
5. Adriana Lima.

Name a few trends you notice among your PB choices: I like expressive PBs the most. Like Vanessa Lengies, Hayden Panetttiere, Autumn Reeser, Percy Daggs III, Michael Cassidy, Chris Evans, Timothy Olyphant, Anna Faris.. etc... I also tend to try to find lesser used PBs, but ones who have been in a movie or on a TV show that I can get a slew of caps for to make icons of. But PBs who an be goofy, definitely. Or ones that can pull off a smirk!

Name a PB you would like to use but just haven't: Honestly? Lindsay Lohan. But not Lindsay Lohan the person, but her as an actress - using screen caps from one of her movies. Such as Just My Luck or Mean Girls. But I wouldn't even dare attempt it considering how many people hate LiLo.

BUT, FIRST! ATTENTION TWILIGHTERS! [Apr. 24th, 2008|07:40 pm]
Hello flist! I'm here with an interesting sort of "pimping" today. As you all have probably caught on by now, I'm a HUGE Twilight Fan, and I'm absolutely in love with the books. I can't get enough. In a span of a week I read all three books once, the first book twice, and some passages of the second and third book twice equal to about half of each book. Yes, I'm hooked, and I'm not ashamed to say it.

August 2nd is ages a way, and I am going to start a TWILIGHT RP. Who here has heard that the Twilight fandom is scary? I have. But the beauty of this? It's going to end up being primarily us HP RPers venturing out for some Twilight fun on the side ;D So no scary fandom shite, alright?

Right now I need to know who on my friends list is interested in playing in the game. If you ARE, the game will open end of May/beginning of June. It will take place after the third book, before the fourth - obviously - so wedding orientated! It's just for fun! It won't be heavily moderated, and will be the equivelent to a glorifed group PSL. Eventually it will be opened to the public for applications - but not right away. First, right now, it's extended to those of you on my personal friends list.

So if you plan on playing in the game, comment to this post - comments are screened - with your TOP THREE CHARACTERS you would like to/be wiling to play :)

Thanks!

ETA: If you have a friend you know is ITCHING to play in a Twilight RP, link them to the post and have them comment. This post is unlocked - however - make sure they mention who linked them to the post to make it easier on me :)

Hm. [Apr. 8th, 2008|06:16 pm]
Guys, I'm starting to have some serious anxiety issues again. It happens 2-3 times a year, really, so it's not new. But it's just starting, and it will get worse. I'm saying this right now because there is a big chance I'm going to hiatus from EVERYTHING within the next week. I'll get to the point I might even think "OMG I SHOULD JUST QUIT IT ALL."

I just hope you lot will help convince me to wait it out until this anxiety/panic attack subsides. I'm not posting this to my games yet, but I thought I should make it known.

If you talk to me on aim, and I'm irritable? I PROMISE. It isn't you. Really. It's just when it literally hurts to breathe for a few days on end because you're so panicked and are bracing yourself for the entire world to fall apart around you? It's hard to stay pleasant.

Yes. I should be on meds. Particularly when it gets like this. But no, I have no intention of doing so, either. Mind over matter or whatever. I can get through it without medicating myself. (I'm fairly anti-medicine kind of girl, particularly mood altering meds.)

Twilight musings and SPOILERS. [Apr. 5th, 2008|02:38 pm]
[Tags|]

On Tuesday, I began reading Twilight. On Friday morning, I finished the third book in the series. Yeah, it took me no time at all to get through these three books. Starting the first book, however, I must say I was discouraged and tempted to put the book down. The initial problem I had with the book was that it was written in first person narrative, and I absolutely loathe first person novels. I was very tempted to put the book down after the first chapter but considering I didn't have much else to do at the time (and the number of my friends who were crazy over the series) I continued reading the book. About four or five chapters in, the first person voice stopped bothering me so much, partly because I was used to it and partly because the other character's were now more prominently in the storyline so the narrator's voice wasn't the only focus.

I have a lot to say about the series, despite reading them all in such a short time span I truly devoured the series in a way I haven't done before. I reread passages, I went back and fourth between things that happened in various books, etc... And I've truly pondered over various aspects of the books in doing so. Below the cut are my thoughts on the series, on things that happened, and on why I find myself absolutely in love with the characters we have met in Forks. With the exception of a few, of course. It is VERY spoilery - so don't read it if you haven't read or finished the books. It is very long - I have a lot to say. And lastly, it's just my opinion and my thoughts, you don't have to agree. This is the first of many posts, so as not to have one too massively long. I'm going to do this in the easiest way I can think of: by character. We'll start with the obvious first choice, the main character and narrator, Isabella Swan.

My thoughts on Isabella Swan - SPOILERS UNDER THIS CUT )

Twilight, MW, and modding [Apr. 2nd, 2008|10:00 am]
So I just finished reading Twilight. At first, I wasn't so sure about the book. To start, I absolutely LOATHE first person story telling in novels. It drives me absolutely insane. Typically before I buy a book I read a few pages in the store to make sure it isn't first person. I didn't do it with this one because everyone was talking about the Twilight series. I'm not going to say too much about it, because I know not everyone on my friends list has read the book, but after getting past my initial complaints (which, to be honest, were a LOT during the first few chapters), I wasn't able to put the book down. It had that point in the story where it just became engaging enough that I almost didn't notice the first person narrative, except during some of the more sluggish and dull parts.

Now I need to read the other two.

We closed [info]madworldrp and it's sad. It was by no means an easy decision to make, but we knew it was for the best. I know have a lot of respect for people who have been in that position before. To be perfectly honest, when M75 closed, I didn't quite get it. I don't think that you can get it unless you're in that situation. It has got me thinking though. MW lasted nearly eight months - which is definitely a feat worth being proud about. I have honestly never been in a school-aged game that's manage to last that long. I've begun to really think that there is a huge difference between in school games and out of school games. At first, I preferred the school-centric games, and now it's completely the opposite. The games that have a longer life span are almost always out of school games. It's like there's only so much you can do in an in school game that eventually it gets uninspiring. Isn't that like real schools though? By the middle/end of the year you are just bored with it. It's definitely brought me a new perspective on games though. Our players were still absolutely AMAZING and we wouldn't change anything for the world - but not everything lasts forever.

I think it's good, though, for me. Now that the hardest part was done - making the decision - I'm realizing my responsibilities as far as RPing go have decreased substantially. I'm in three games, one that hasn't started yet, but only as characters - not as a mod. I don't think people appreciate mods enough, particularly good mods. Moderating a game is a lot of work, its almost like picking up a part time job alone. It's worth it - particularly when you connect with a group of players that take the plot and run with it. To watch the characters develop over time and get to know the players in a game? It's an amazing opportunity. But it takes a lot to accomplish. From a players perspective, I think, sometimes we overlook just how much our moderators do for us. Players are the first to complain when they get rejected, when they don't get their way on a plot or a pb, or talk about "oh this mod does this, that, or whatever"... but seriously, there are some really fantastic moderators out there - and we need to appreciate them. Mods are only human, sure, they make mistakes and are prone to favourtism like the rest of us. We won't always be happy with their decisions. But they are that key in order to make a successful, cohesive game. They do the grunt work so the players have a place to relax and, well, play. So remember that next time you're quick to get snappy at a mod, they're doing all the grunt work to create the environment where they players can create the world.

Of course, there are bad moderators out there, just as there are bad players. But that's life.
